The exhibition and series of events whose title is taken from the words of Leah, the bride in the Dybbuk by S. Ansky, engages with urgent questions regarding the Prevention of Infiltration Law passed by Israel’s Parliament in November 2017, and its grave implications for asylum seekers in Israel.

The exhibition and the event series attempt to raise questions, further discussion and promote action in line with our civic stand that offering refuge to asylum seekers whose lives are in danger is a basic humanitarian principle.

The starting point for the exhibition is a series of paintings by Silvia Cabib, first produced for the book Molo and Tsegai, which was co-written by israelis and refugees. The book describes the valiant journey of the twins Molo and Tsegai, who must flee from home on their own after their village is demolished by fire and war.

Alongside this exhibition, Mamuta offers three exhibition rooms to artists wishing to participate in the show, There Is No Place More Exalted than my Present Refuge.

The exhibition will open on 11.2.2017, at 20:00. It will be on show for three weeks. We are calling on every interested artist to contact us by mail and let us know what they would like to present so that we can prepare and set up the exhibition.
